Those who come down from the Mountains of Passo Godi or from the Mountains of Alfedena see the opening of a valley where the dark green of the beechtrees mixes with the azure of  Lake Barrea.

The scenery is  unusually beautiful. Villetta Barrea descends  gradually towards the luxuriant plateau where the river Sangro flows.

there is a riding centre where you can hire horses or ponies ( 500 m away).

Some 3 km away Civitella Alfedena, heart and centre of the Park, offers wonderful views of an ancient village and of the country side surrounding it.

Moreover: the Mount Camosciara, Fondillo Valley,  Val di Rose are places you will never forget. 

You can visit villages steeped in history and traditions: Opi, Pescasseroli, Barrea, Scanno which have un  interesting cultural program of special events.
